These are audio clips of high priority incidents I have caught on tape. All recordings are of Flagstaff Police/EMS/or Fire. The recordings do not have periods of radio silence, meaning my recorder only records when someone is transmitting. All recordings are in .wav format. Click on the incident name do hear the clip. Beer run turns into pursuit then tazed person: Police attempt to stop a vehicle that was involved in a beer run. After they run the plates, it comes back stolen and they pursue. The vehicle's occupants bail out of the car and one person is tazed.

Officer down! A citizen runs to an officer's aid by calling for help on the fallen officers radio. The DPS officer was hit by a semi when on foot, investigating an accident on the other side of the road. Officer Ken Hensheid has fully recovered.

Murder/Suicide after pursuit: Officers attempt to stop a stolen vehicle, but the driver does not pull over. He and his passenger bail out of the car and run in to the wood sand officers follow. The driver then pulls a gun out, shoots the passenger, then turns it on himself.

Vehicle pursuit during snow storm : On January 20, 2010, DPS Officers observed a wrong way driver on the CLOSED freeways. The roadways were closed due to heavy snow. The officers pusued the vehicle for nearly an hour. They spiked it numerous times before finally ramming the vehicle off the road.

Plane crash south of Flagstaff: On January 23, 2008 A Cessna 210 crashed south of Flagstaff killing all aboard. A DPS officer witnessed the crash while on a traffic stop. In the first DPS clip you can hear the officer giving information about his stop than actually hear the plane fly overhead and the officer reporting he heard it crash. The recording are broken up due to large file sizes.

DPS Highway Patrol Pursuit: On November 30, 2008 A DPS officer attempted to pull over a vehicle that he observed doing 60 miles per hour and driving erratically. The driver refused to pull over and the pursuit reach speeds of 110 mph. The vehicle eventually crashed, though no one was seriously injured.

Pursuit, then fatal crash: On August 17, 2008 a man came to the police department intoxicated saying his life was in danger. By the time officers arrived at the station to take a report, the man was gone. Police tracked the man to his house. Upon making contact with the man, the suspect began to flee in his vehicle driving backwards with no lights on and heading the wrong way on the road. The man eventually crashed and later died from his injuries.

Helicopter Crash on McMillan Mesa: On Sunday June 29th at 3:49 pm, 2 medical transport helicopters collided 1 mile east of Flagstaff Medical Center, dropping over the McMillan Mesa. 6 people died, and others injured. The crash also caused a large forest fire in the area.

Officer Needs Help!: On Friday, April 18th 2009 at approx. 18:44 hours, Zebra 123, a state gang task force unit attempts to pull over a black Cadillac with no license plates. A short pursuit follows, then the subject run into an occupied residence. The officers follow by kicking in the door. The real problem begins when people from the whole street begin entering the house and assaulting the officers.

Shots Fired: A mentally unstable man fires a gun at police officers. They had been trying to capture the man due to reports of him firing shots at neighbors. The man eluded officers after this recorded incident and was found the next day. When confronted the following day, he fired at officers again this time wounding a detective. Police returned fire and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officer down! Officers from several police agencies engage in a shootout with a mentally ill man who they had been trailing all weekend. Flagstaff Police detective Todd Bishop was trying to stun the man with a Taser when he was shot in the arm. Officers returned fire, and the suspect was killed. Bishop survived and has since returned to duty.
